The LWT project is for disabled young people, aged 9 – 18 to take part in joint activities with mainstream young people in Hackney. Members of the project were actively involved in developing this website, some of whom you can see making the animation at the top of this page, as well as working with Springfield Youth Club on a joint trip to Thorpe Park and being a part of the Youth Comissioners at Eastside Eduacational Trust to commission and then take part in the arts workshops running through Discover Young Hackney this year, amongst many other things.
We also worked with Hackney Youth Parliament to have elected disability representatives on the Hackney’s Youth Parliament. Here are the successful candidates manifesto speeches. They recieved the highest number of votes out of the 12 candidates that put themselves forward. Charlene and Luke drew, and in a tie break, Luke clinched it. However watch her speech and see what you think. Maybe we should have all three on the Youth Parliament, if they’ll let us.
